Arcata Chamber of Commerce
&
California Welcome Center
I interned with the Arcata Chamber of Commerce and the California Welcome Center during the summer of 2015. My official position was as a Travel Ambassador. I worked in the welcome center and kept things organized and running smoothly. It was my job to provide advice and guidance to tourists about the best places to visit in Northern California.
The summer that I interned, the Welcome Center celebrated it's 15th anniversary with a small party. I assisted with planning and logistics for the party. I also worked the event by pouring samples of the local wines and micro brews.
Below are some pictures of the event.
4th of July Jubilee
I was also enlisted to help the Executive Director Sandy Scott with the planning and logistics of the annual 4th of July Jubilee thrown by the Arcata Chamber. The event drew a crowd of 2,000 to 4,000 people. The Jubilee featured both food and craft vendors as well as live entertainment including a parade, live bands, and aerial acrobatics. This required extensive planning and permissions.
The day of the event I was on site all day to ensure that everything ran smoothly. The event was a huge success and made me realize that event planning is something that I am very passionate about!
Below is a slideshow featuring pictures from the event. Enjoy!
