Universal Plastics, Inc.
I began at Universal Plastics, Inc. in February of 2019 as a temporary employee.
After quickly proving my ability to adapt to new processes seamlessly, I was hired on permanently in March. Initially I handled all administrative work in the office, such as filing, setting up job folders, QuickBooks data entry and answering phones. I was also tasked with processing Preliminary Liens, Job Pre-Qualifications, Business Licenses and Insurance records. My employer then asked that take over the website redesign process that she had been trying to get started for over a year. I took this assignment in stride and was able to have a completely new website published by July 1st, 2019.

Shortly after I first started with Universal Plastics the Accounts Payable position was suddenly vacated and I was asked to step up and fill the position as well as maintain my previous responsibilities. There were no formal procedures in place, and I received no official training when I started. Despite having no accounting experience, I was able to streamline a new process to ensure that the weekly payments were organized and sent out in a timely manner. Additionally, I was now charged with maintaining accurate DMV records for the company car fleet, processing biweekly expense reports, tracking GPS/Gas reports and more.
In July, I was asked to assist the Accounts Receivable representative with her workload as she was struggling to accomplish all her job duties. I was trained on reading contracts so
that I could verify job site compliance requirements and I took over the processing
of compliance paperwork for Certified Payroll jobs. I also created a new Collections process that succeeded in bringing in over $100,000.00 in past due payments during the
first month that it was implemented.
My time at Universal Plastics, Inc. provided me with the experience and confidence to take on a wide variety of assignments. I was frequently asked to step into new positions with little to no training. The website overhaul allowed me to showcase my ability to design for any industry or product. This position has been fast paced and challenging in a way that has allowed me to realize my professional capabilities.
